When you’re on the go with your family or a companion and when you need to stay in touch while at the same time keeping some form of entertainment nearby, a pair of walkie talkie radios is your best answer.  Walkie talkie radios have always been popular for fun and for business alike due to their convenience and their size.  For them to be effective, they need to have a long range in not only the speaking but in the radio.  We’ve browsed through several of these walkie talkies and have found a few high recommendations for those exact needs and ones that won’t break your wallet.

You may have heard of Motorola in the cell phone business, but they are also big names with walkie talkie radios.  As such, you can expect huge quality and exceptional customer service, also backed by some of the best warranties in the business.  We were most impressed with Motorola’s EM1000R model of walkie talkie radios.  The range is a very decent 20 miles, which is very far.  Also included in this is an alert button in which you can send others a signal that danger is approaching.  There is also a siren on your radio that alerts you when danger is near.  It also has a built in flashlight for those night treks, along with weather alerts whenever severe weather rears its ugly head.  Put that with such a great price and some good 22 channel entertainment, and this pair of radios is your very best bet.

Another brand we were very impressed with is a brand called Cobra.  We’ve done our research on these guys and we can say that they’re very good at what they do, though they aren’t as well known as Motorola.  Their CXR900 model impressed us a ton.  Not only is it a traditional walkie talkie, but it also doubles as a voice recorder.  You can record up to twenty seconds of your own voice, or record and playback any messages sent to you, which is extremely convenient.  It has a 30 mile range, which amazed us a lot.  Other features include weather alerts, built in flashlight, and 22 channels.  Though it is a bit higher than Motorola’s model, it does pretty much the same and more.

The Tri-Square company is another rising brand of walkie talkie radios.  It is Cobra’s main competitor for the number two spot behind Motorola, and they definitely give Cobra a run for their money.  We looked at Tri-Square’s TSX3002VP model, and we loved it.  It has far more channels than Cobra and it also has text messaging and some privacy talk settings as well.  The range is much better and it comes with a flashlight and weather alerts.  However, the price isn’t budget friendly but with all the extra features it’s worth it.
